Syria should we give arms ?
Today we hear that the USA president Obama has approved the supplying of arms to the rebel forces fighting the government of Syria and I have been asked by a number of followers of the Kemetic faith how we should react to this news.
It is a difficult question and one that I as the Spiritual leader of the Kemetic faith have had to look at very hard. As always my first port of call in such things was to look to the Gods to see how they would have dealt with this problem.
When I was looking I was drawn to the phrase the road to peace can not be paved with arms. I think that this really answers the question for me. Yet I continued to look as for such a important question one has to look deep and hard to find to answer.
My next stop in the hunt for a answer was the history of our world and here yet again I found so many references to the fact that to try to find peace through the giving of arms has brought nothing but more blood shed and a failure to find true peace.
War is a horrific thing it is one of the forces of chaos most deadly of actions it brings death and destruction to all. There is nothing good to say about war. The worst forms of war is civil war when a nation turns on itself to destroy its own people and bring ruin to its own culture.
To aid those in a civil conflict with the supply of arms is never going to end the problem yes it may give one side or the other the final push that gives them victory but a victory in a civil war won by force of arms is not a victory for the whole nation but just for those who were the strongest at the time.
This answer never bring a true peace to a nation it only delays further conflict and leads to more death and tears a nations heart apart.
The only way to find peace in a civil war is to force both sides to see that war is not the answer that they have to sit down they have to talk they have to find a path that all can agree to a path that can lead to reunion and reconciliation. This can never be achieved if the out side world is playing out its own battles using both sides a its proxy armies as we have seen so many times throughout history.
A solution to civil war had to be based solely on the interests of the people it must never involve the outside interests of other nations. If it does then the solution will fail as again we have seen time and time again when the outside worlds priority’s change they will leave a nation to face internal conflict once again.
So my final answer to this question is that it is wrong to offer arms to any side in a civil war the true wisdom in this situation is to denies all sides arms and help in this way they are forced to come to the table to sit down and to talk of peace and the true democratic interests of their people and their nation.
I fear that the USA’s action today will not help to bring an end to this horrific war that rages in Syria but will help to fuel a conflict that will continue to burn for generations as a true peace will fail to surface as both sides will continue to persuade the world to fill their arsenal’s.
A worst thought is that this could also lead to this conflict spreading in a region that is just waiting for the match to light the flame of a bloody war that will be even more horrific than the one these arms are meant to help end.
