Month of Epipi newsletter
We opened this month with the Festival of Hathor and the Festival of Bast with the God of this month being Wadjet.
These two Goddesses have a close connection as they represent the two parts of Egypt with Hathor representing Upper Egypt and Bast Lower Egypt.
We took time on this day to remember that Hathor is the Goddess of the Sinai Peninsula a very appropriate time to remember this fact as we look to this region of the world and see the great suffering that the people of this area have under gone.
We took the opportunity to give thanks to her in this role for the news that the new government in Egypt had opened the boarder here and that some of the suffering of these people would be lifted.
Through out this month we saw many holy days that were associated with Hathor all of which helped us to remember her many aspects and the role that she plays in our lives and her part of the Netjar as a whole.
But this month did not only see Holy days to Hathor later in, the month we saw the receiving of Ra which is one of the great days in our Holy calendar.
Here was the chance for us all to look at the great life of this one of the senior Gods, giving us all inspiration.
It was also a chance for us to reflect on the connections of the Gods to each other. Through these connections, we can see clearly how each God plays their important role as part of the whole but that on their own they would be nothing. From this, we should learn that even the Gods need each other as we do here in this world. We see that over time we like them will have our differences but that we too can work these out to make both our own lives and the world as a whole a much better place to live.
Other Gods who we honoured this month were Amun, Hapi , Horus and Ma at.
This month we also took the chance to see how our internet presence has developed since we first took the decision to go on line with not only the web sit but also joining a number of other sites as well.
We are very pleased to say that we have seen a great response to this presence although membership of our web site has not been as high as we would have liked the actual use of the site is very high with a ever growing number of people using it .
In all we calculate that the over all following of the Kemetic faith through the federation has increased by around 300 this past year. We very much hope that this will continue to grow.
Our prayers have again gone out to the people of Libya who are still suffering from the conflict in their country with every day hearing of more and more crimes committed against them by the government who claim to love them.
We pray to the Gods to protect them and to help bring a quick and good end to this conflict.
Their has again been some coverage in the news on the matter of the right of those suffering from some illnesses to chooses when and how they should die. In Switzerland, we saw a vote on this and on the rights of those from countries that it is illegal to perform assisted suicide to go there to die.
Sadly the people of Switzerland voted in favour of the continuance of this practise.
Although we all have to right to make our own life choices some may be wrong some will turn out to be good this is how the Gods intended us all to learn and why our faith does not function on written doctrines like so many of the other faiths of the world.
Yet it would be a failure of the Kemetic faiths leadership not to give advice and guidance on such a matter.
We all understand that the Gods have sent suffering sorrow and grief into the world not to punish us but to help us learn as well as to make us stronger people with a greater understanding of life and the trials that others also go through in life.
To turn to death as the answer is not the way and in doing so we will fail to learn that which the Gods had wanted us to learn by sending us such suffering in our life. By failing to learn, we in turn risk our future in the next world.
It is wrong to turn to death as a way out of our duty to ourselves and our families, we have to show strength in these times, in so doing the Gods will reward us with a greater knowledge of our world and the world that we will eventually enter when we do take that last great journey from this world to the next.
Next month is the last month of the Kemetic calendar and it will be a busy one for us all as the old year draws to a close and we ready ourselves for the birth of a new year.
There are a great number of holy days in this month so we hope that the Gods will smile on you all and send you Their great and many blessing.
