Tehuti and the Khu go forth
13th day of the month of Pamenot in the year 5109 (27th January 2009)
As we gather for this great event in our faiths calendar, I would like us to look at the role of Tehuti in both the pantheon of the Kemetic Gods but also how he relates to us today in our lives. As I have said, many times the Gods play just as big a role in our lives today as they did in the days of our fathers and their fathers. From their history, we can learn so much that can help us live our lives as well as finding our path through this world over the years of our lives. I am sure that Tehuti is known to us all as is his role in the world in fact under his Greek name of Thoth he is known to many who are not of the faith as well. He is one of the oldest of the Gods, as with many of the older Gods Tehuti is seen as a creation God. It is from him that the story of Ra’s birth comes. In his scared form of the Ibis, he laid an egg from which Ra came forth into the world. It is also from Tehuti that we again see how the words and beliefs of our faith may have been taken by other faiths & used in their own teachings. In this case we have to look to the bible where it starts in the beginning was the word. We are thought that Tehuti used the power of language to create himself. It is here that I would like to continue my thoughts on this aspect of Tehuti. For I think that we may forget the great power that is held in words. Words play a part in every aspect of our lives we use them to express love, anger, pain, regret. They are used to pass on knowledge to tell of our history the list goes on. The power that words have can be used for both good and evil there are times that we can hear one thing but misunderstand what the words are truly telling us. I am sure that we have all heard the expression the language of war or peace but how many of us have truly looked at these expressions & seen the deep truth in them. War is fought with weapons but they are started by words in the same way they can only be ended by words as well. No matter how many guns we have no matter how long and hard we fight in the end the only true weapon that we have that can bring peace are words. Tehuti has over they years shown us how to use these words how to record them telling us the importance that they are written down so that we can be totally sure of what was said and what the true meaning was. In the past, this was as important as it is today. To back this up I say to you to look at your every day lives for the moment forget about the big things just look at your every day life. What do you see? How do you use the skills that Tehuti has shown us? Can you see a life without these skills? Woven through the fabric of our lives are the golden threads of knowledge writing reading language all given to us through words. The power of words is the greatest power that any man can hold. If you have the knowledge to use them, you can make any thing happen. In our every day lives it is the way we use words that will play a great part in say a job interview. If you use the right words, it plays a great part in how employers see us and if they will give us a job. Many times it is the man with the greatest grasp of the language who will come out ahead of his fellows. We have seen that words can be used for good but as with all thing in our lives what can be used for good can also be turned to evil. This is the same with words for after all it is the speeches of those who turn into dictators and warmongers, which persuade us to let them have the power that they need to start of their paths of evil. It is these same words that can blind us to their evil and take us also down the dark paths of chaos blinded by their words of evil. Many people say to me that our faith is one that uses magic in so doing they mock us saying that there is no such thing. I say to them look at words they are the true magic. Our ancestor knew this they used words to tell what would happen to those who for instance rob our tomb’s. The fact that these words have put the idea into the minds of men mean that many will have this at the back of their minds and can convince themselves through this suggestion that it is going to happen. There is no supernatural force to it other than the very power that is held in the words the way they have been used and the weakness of the human mind to suggestion. So you can see the great power of words. In the past man has given magical powers to the use of words and in a way they where right. As we have seen they can be used to blind us to leader us from a path that we once knew as right to a path that we have been told is right by the use of the right combination of words. Therefore, when we see nation and governments try to solve their problems with the use of force we can also see that no matter how large their armies are and how many victories they claim they can never find try peace with out the final act of talking. For the only way forward in any situation is to talk to discuss to use words as our chosen weapons and in doing so we the men of words will always find the final great victory in all things. Let us then look to Tehuti and his teachings to learn the power of words a power that can truly be seen as the greatest magic that can be cast in this world or the next.
