Beijing ‘to talk to Dalai aides’
Chinese officials will hold talks with the Dalai Lama’s representatives, state media say, in the first meeting since rioting broke out in Tibet last month. Xinhua news agency quoted an official as saying a meeting would take place “in coming days”. A spokesman for the Tibetan spiritual leader welcomed the offer of talks. Beijing has consistently blamed what it termed a “Dalai clique” for fomenting unrest in Tibetan areas of China – an allegation he has strenuously denied. The Dalai Lama insists he has no political role and played no part in the protests.
Finally, the Chinese government has seen that it cannot continue to lie not only to its own people but to the world as a whole. Yet are these promised talks the real thing or just another smoke screen for the benefit the world and to take the attention away from the plight of the people of Tibet during the Games. There is a bigger question that we should also be asking our selves here. Around the world, there are similar people with similar problems and yet the world turns it head and tries not to see. Why should it take an event such as the Olympics to make the world look up & see the plight of an oppressed people. We should & must look around us see the problems of the world & deal with them. It is not good enough to allow a government to oppress a people because we fear the actions that we our selves may face if we stand up to them. Let it be hoped that the plight of Tibet will not be moved to the back ground when the games are over. The time has come for the people of the world to take care of each other for we are all brothers and sisters in the end.
Militias ‘recruit child bombers’
insurgent groups and militias in Iraq are recruiting children for attacks, according to a United Nations official. The findings of the UN special representative for children and armed conflict echo concerns expressed by the US military about insurgent tactics. In some cases children are paid to carry out attacks, the UN envoy, Radhika Coomaraswamy Last month, the US released footage of what it said was al-Qaeda propaganda showing children being trained. The US says children are being taught how to use guns and carry out kidnappings in addition to other terrorist activities.
What right has any one to steal the innocents of child hood from our children. To use (and this is the only term that can be used) children in this way is wrong in every way that you look at it. There can be no reason in the world that should make a child do these things. The Gods gave us childhood not only to learn and grow but to enjoy before the pressures of adult hood fall upon our shoulders. The very fact that in so many cases these children are being used in the name of faith makes it even worst. What faith can send children to war in its name. what God would create the beauty of childhood to let it be destroyed in such a way. I can not see that any God would so this only leaves the fact that yet again we see the minds of man corrupting the true meanings of faith.
Zimbabwe opposition retains gains
Zimbabwe’s electoral commission has released seven more results from a partial recount of last month’s parliamentary elections. None of the original results were overturned, making it difficult for the ruling Zanu-PF party to overturn an opposition majority in the lower house. Ten remain to be declared – all in opposition-held seats – and Zanu-PF now needs to win nine to regain control. Results have still not been released from the parallel presidential poll. The failure to do so, four weeks on from the vote, is causing mounting concern internationally.US Assistant Secretary of State Jendayi Frazer said the level of government intimidation in Zimbabwe was now so high that a fair run-off would not be possible. She said the only solution was a inclusive government, led by the opposition Movement for Democratic Change.
With these results it must be clear to the world that know the government of Zimbabwe is no longer the chosen government of the people so why are some nations still trying to deal with them. The people have voted in clear numbers that they nolonger wish this government to lead them. In so many cases this vote has come at a very high price. With the government thugs beating up those who had the courage to stand up against the government. In some very sad cases even death was the price. Those who are given the greatest trust that a nation can give to govern must always remember that they are only there by the will of the people and to do the peoples will. Around the world we see many governments forgetting this basic fact. They act without the consent of their people in matters that in many cases only serve to give the leaders glory and a place in the history books. This is not the reason they are in the offices that they hold & the time has come for them to once again realise this and return to the basic principals of governing the country for the people and with the will of the people rather than telling the people that this is what they want . let us know hope that the government of Zimbabwe will finally except that it has lost the peoples support and bows to the will of the people.
Many dead in Sri Lanka bus blast
At least 24 people have been killed and about 50 wounded by a bombing on a bus in the outskirts of the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo, officials have said. The blast happened during rush hour while the bus stopped to pick up passengers in the city’s southern suburb of Piliyandala, they added. A government spokesman blamed the Tamil Tiger rebel group. Violence in Sri Lanka has intensified since January, when the government pulled out of a ceasefire agreement.Earlier, the military said its troops had taken control of a church containing the country’s most important Roman Catholic shrine. The shrine lies on the front line in the town of Madhu in the northern Mannar region. Both sides in the conflict have recently accused each other of shelling the revered complex, and photographs have shown considerable damage.
Through out history we see groups trying to force their point of view on the world through violent means. Yet can you think of any group who has truly gain success from this method. The only ones who have made any movement in the pursuit of their aims are those who have seen that the only way forward is to put aside their weapons and do battle across the peace table. Talks are the only way forward for any group. Yet still there are those who do not see this and insist in the taking of innocent lives to put forward their case. What can be gain from death and destruction? Nothing .put aside your arms stop the flow of blood and talk. In doing so all will find a way forward and achieve their goals.
